Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Manchester Pride 2012

Yes, I've just celebrated my annual lost weekend. Pride is over. Now back to being gay and ashamed :-D

I'm kidding, of course! Manchester Pride is a wonderful event. Some of you may recall last year's post, Putting Pride in its Place, where I lamented the fact that we are so keen, as a community, to ghettoise ourselves. This year the wristbands were luminous yellow (unless you were part of the VIP crew, in which case you got a very dashing and leatheresque black). Yes I played 'hunt the wristband' in the town centre, and yes, I was disappointed, although not as much as last year.

Olympic Giggles

Okay, I admit, I was one of the doubters. I think Boris Johnson is the funniest man alive, but could he really organise an Olympic Games? Could we bumbling Brits ever hope to pull it off? And so what if we did? I mean, it's sport. Wimbledon excepted, that's like the dullest thing...ever.

But not when you get photo opportunities like this it's not!

Lendink.com; or, Drama, Drama, Drama

I wasn't going to go here. I've tried talking sense to the hysterics on a number of forums this past week when it would have been more productive for me to spend that time banging my head against a brick wall, but I'm going to do it anyway. Maybe it'll prevent something like the absolute nonsense and drama and stupidity I've seen sweep through the indie author community like a wildfire from happening again.

For the three of you who don't know, Lendink.com was a site that capitalised on the lending feature available on most Kindle books. This is nothing to do with the Loan Library available to Amazon Prime members. There has been a lot of confusion about this, so let me break it down.

Katsura & Yuramei - Big Deal Vol 2 - WIN Signed Book

What happens when Yaoi meets Scotland? When petty criminals engage in comedy capers and crime? When hardened cons fall for drag queens and love triangles abound? It's a pretty Big Deal, that's what.

#FastDraft Update

I'm back! I've just spent 12 fabulous days in the highlands of Scotland, getting some much needed R&R and squirreling away at my #FastDraft challenge - 12 days, 20 pages a day. A tall order, right? Well before I break down the numbers, here's a little of what else I did while I was away.
